Restrictions FAQ
How we protect your plate / Version 1.0
How does the Restrictions Briefing work?
When three guests have selected Attending and you open an event card, pltrplnr pulls food restriction data from every guest who has marked their status as Attending.
Our system then displays these restrictions as anonymized lists; no names, and the lists are displayed in a random order. This ensures the host and attending guests know exactly what needs to stay out of the kitchen.
The nameless, anonymized lists show one individual's restrictions, but not who that person is.
Why are some items highlighted in red?
These are Restriction Categories. Items like "Dairy," "Tree Nuts," or "Shellfish" are prioritized at the top of the list because they represent broad safety risks.
Note: We sort the list so that these critical categories always appear first, followed by specific ingredients.
Can other guests see my restrictions?
Not directly. Guests can see the anonymized list of guests' restrictions for an event to help them decide what to bring, but your specific restriction profile is never linked to your name on the public guest list.
Guests who have accepted an invitation can see the list of guests who have also accepted as well as the anonymized lists of restrictions. This information is available only if three or more guests have accepted.
How do Social Connections work?
You can initiate a connection by entering a friend's email address on your dashboard.
- → If they have an account, they receive a connection request instantly.
- → If they are new to the platform, we send them an invitation to join you on pltrplnr.
Can my connections see my restrictions?
Only if you want them to. Every connection features a Sharing Toggle.
Sharing is independent and granular. You can choose to share your list with a friend so they can view your briefing, even if they haven't shared theirs with you yet. You remain in total control of who can see your categorized data at all times.
What if I update my profile?
Any changes you make to your restriction profile are updated immediately across all events you are attending. The host's Restriction Briefing is recalculated every time they open the event details.
What if I don't see my restriction?
At the bottom of the search box in the "My Restrictions" section, there is a link to a form that will let you propose a new restriction item or category. This is added to the database and is flagged for review soley for the purposes of avoiding duplication.
